Paintball is a game whose participants use gas-powered markers to launch marble-sized pellets containing colored goo at each other. Among the most common of the many variations is a version of capture the flag, in which two teams of players attempt to seize each others' banner without being struck by a pellet.

How Accurate Are Paintball Guns?
By Adam Lenk, Thu Dec 8th

Many guns or makers are advertised as being moreaccurate, shooting farther or having a better trajectory overother guns. But is this really true? Can one paintballgun be more accurate than another?

Many experts argue that no one gun is moreaccurate than another. In fact, many say that associating theword accuracy with a gun is ludicrous. While there arecertain factors that can prevent your gun from firingas far or as accurate as it can, most experts agree that nomarker or gun can be more accurate than another because no boltconfiguration can be more accurate than another.

There are many factors that can affect your gun'saccuracy including wind resistance, temperature and your FPSreading. These factors cannot be controlled but are alsoexperienced by other paintballers on the field so the paintballplaying field is usually pretty level when it comes toequipment.

Just as there are some factors affecting your guns accuracy thatyou cannot control, there are a few factors that you cancontrol. While these factors

will not make your gunshoot farther or more accurate than it is designed to, they cankeep your gun from performing at its best if not examinedclosely.

Perhaps the most important factor you should consider whenexamining your gun for performance is the match inbarrel and bore sizes. To test for this, you shouldinsert a into one end of the barrel and blow thepaintball out of the other end. If the is propelledwith very little force or with only a great amount of force, youare using a that is either too small or too large foryour barrel. Choose instead a that is expelled usingonly a slight force.

The second thing that you can do to ensure that your paintballgun or maker is as accurate as it can be is to pay specialattention to the air system and choose the best one you canfind. A good rule of thumb to follow is to choose a paintballgun air system with a high flow and recharge rate and awell-built regulator.

You can also increase your accuracy by ensuring your paintballgun's consistency during firing. You can do this by purchasing ahigh-flow regulator which allows more air to flow inside thegun, increasing consistency.

So, before you spend more money on a gun or markerbecause you think it will be more accurate than a lower-pricedmodel, remember what the experts have said about gunsand accuracy. You just might save yourself some hard-earnedcash.
