Some Selling Tips On eBay

Now there's a lot of advice floating around the web about how to sell on eBay but before you start theorising and get into the deeper aspects of selling, there are some very practical and simple steps you need to take first. Once you have an eBay account, you should go through this article for all the tips that are useful.

Before you begin to sell anything you should do a little research first. Without that, you might just lose out on a better deal or not sell anything at all. You should research certain auctions to know what the right starting bid should be and what price would be a good price.

Now when you put up your item, you need to list your item properly. This is one of the biggest blunders made by members. If you don't list your item properly, it's harder for any potential buyer to find. And not only should you list it properly, you should also leave it up for a decent amount of time. Write a plain and short description to inform your bidder, and if they have any queries, you should reply as soon as possible.

You would also need to have a good-quality digital camera. If not, invest in one. Make sure you get a camera with a higher resolution as this helps to make your items appealing. And you would really need one as there is a common trend that items with pictures sell more often as those that don't have any.

Now there's another matter of importance and that is time. There is something known as the right time to start up your auction. This would be during weekdays. And you can end your auction on Sunday evening. This is because a majority of earning members are at home on weekends and have the time to make the last bids.

Now we come to shipping costs. You would need to state the shipping costs online. Depending on the size of your item, you should check the rates at UPS and Fed-Ex if you're shipping something heavy or USPS for smaller items. UPS has more appeal as they would pick the item up from your house for no extra charge. Now you can get a free USPS Priority Mail box with a free shipping label and delivery confirmation at Free Priority Mail Supplies.

Then there's the obvious matter of payment. Firstly, do not take any cheques as it could be risky. There are quite a few good payment services like: Paypal, Western Union, PayingFast, StormPay, C2it, BidPay, CCNow and PaybyCheck. Electronic payment services are agreeable for they are prompt. And if you have to deal with money orders, only accept those purchased from the post office. Banks apparently treat all others the same as cheques and people can hold up payments on them.

Once you receive your payment, you should ship items out as punctually as possible. Some people ship items out right after receiving the payment. Yet if you can't then you should mention it in your auctions. Say that you would ship within 7 days or 10 days after payment is received, so that buyers know.

There, these are most of the basic tips for selling on eBay, and you are pretty much good to go. But there are quite a few more tips, especially when it comes to selling seriously on eBay. A professional attitude and presentation helps and could increase your sales. There are quite a few auction e-Books that have more selling tips. And a lot of this information is free.

Yet before you get there, why don't you try out your luck with all that you know now?
