Many backpackers use hostels when they arrive at their destinations. Youth Hostels provide the perfect way to get to know a country at low cost. Cheap rooms are available in hostels in most cities and towns around the world.

It is useful to be able to compare room rates at a number of hostels in your preferred destination. By booking in advance, you save yourself from worrying about your accomodation or hotel room, and can get on with enjoying your vacation. There are hostels in castles, in teepees and in railroad carriages.

Tip of the day - Always carry your student or youth card because you may be able to get a discount. Many hostels offer a wide range of activities - from city tours to white water-rafting.

There are as many different atmospheres as there are hostels While most hostels do not impose an age restriction, this is not always the case, particularly in establishments which have a bar on the premises. Many hostels provide internet access, laundry, and free breakfast.

During the daytime, there is usually a lockout time from early morning to late afternoon when the rooms are being cleaned. Common identification used to stay in hostels includes passports, photo driver’s licenses and state or country identity cards.

Hostelling is, in part, the act of traveling and staying in hostels, and is referred to as "backpacking" in many parts of the world. Use your travel reference to find a hostel that satisfies your needs.
