Call it out loud and see if it appeals to you and your spouse. Also, call out the first name along with your last name. While some names are genuinely acceptable for both and often we use nicknames for our children that could belong to either gender, a baby's proper name must be suitable to its gender. Having a boy's name for a girl or vice versa can make things very difficult for your child during the early school years.
